Marian Marquez is Acting Director of Business Investment for Arlington Economic Development (AED). In this role she oversees Arlington’s efforts in business recruitment and retention, international trade, entrepreneur support and catalyzing the innovation economy. Among other achievements, Marian contributed heavily to the successful recruitment of Amazon’s HQ2 to Arlington and standing up the County’s international and business retention strategies. Prior to joining AED, Marian held roles in the private and public sectors including several years with Exxon Mobil Corporation as well as federal government (U.S. Trade & Development Agency). Marian’s love of all things international stems from a childhood spent as a diplomatic brat in Hungary, Germany, Mexico and Austria. As a native Arlingtonian, however, Marian is thrilled to be back “home” and working to make Arlington an even better place to live and work. Marian holds a BA in Russian Studies from Stanford University and a master’s degree in International Business from the Fletcher School, Tufts University.
