An Important Update – 11/13/20
Tonight, we share the difficult decision that the 2020 VA1 Tourism Summit has been postponed and will not take place on Monday, November 16. This decision was not made lightly, but was done to ensure compliance with Governor Northam’s announcement regarding the reduction of public and private gatherings to 25 people. We had so looked forward to being together in Richmond on Monday and share in your disappointment that the conference will not be taking place as planned.
The Virginia Restaurant, Lodging and Travel Association (VRLTA), the Virginia Association of Destination Marketing Organizations (VADMO), and the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) teams will be in close communication in the coming days to explore alternative options for sharing this year’s content, networking and educational opportunities. We ask for your patience as we determine next steps.
VA1 has become the signature annual event for the tourism industry in Virginia, providing invaluable opportunities for networking and knowledge-sharing. And while the present circumstances prevent us from gathering together on Monday, our teams remain committed to the shared vision of the 2020 VA1 theme: “We Still Believe…” The travel and tourism industry remains resilient and steadfast in an unprecedented year of challenges and difficulties.
If you had reserved a room at the Omni, the hotel will automatically cancel your reservation with no penalty.
At this time, as we assess our next steps, we will not be processing conference registration refunds.
Lastly, we would like to offer special thanks to our speakers, panelists and sponsors, as well as VA1 Programming Chair Catherine Fox (Visit Virginia’s Blue Ridge) and the VA1 programming committee; Marty Malloy of Convention Connections; the dedicated staff at Omni Richmond; and the VRLTA and VTC staff. We remain so proud of the hard work and preparation that went into planning a truly exceptional program for the 2020 VA1 Tourism Summit, and we hope to share this outstanding content with you soon.
Again, we thank you for your patience and understanding. We hope to see you soon.
Eric Terry, President, VRLTA
Rita McClenny, President & CEO, Virginia Tourism Corporation
