Ken Heath

A native of Marion, Ken was hired as the town’s first Main Street director in November 1994. Over the past two decades, he has helped orchestrate “The Marion Revolution”, a community effort to revitalize the town through cultural heritage, tourism, home-grown small business development, and community pride. He and his team developed the award-winning “Pop Up Marion” entrepreneur boot camp, where locals are provided the training, resources, and motivation to move “from the couch to the cash register”, and has plummeted the town’s storefront vacancy rate from 17% to under 4%, marked double-digit increases in meals and lodging taxes, and has become a model for small town revitalization for Virginia and the region.
