Kevin Costello is director of tourism for Prince William County’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism. He oversees a team of tourism marketing professionals who promote Prince William County as a premier destination for businesses and visitors.
Kevin’s team was responsible for facilitating the hosting of the LPGA’s Solheim Cup, a biennial international match-play competition features the best players from the U.S. and Europe held at Robert Trent Jones in September of 2024. The Virginia Association of Destination Marketing Organizations recognized these efforts with their Best Destination Event, Virgo Award 2025.
Before joining Prince William County in June of 2022, Kevin served as the President and CEO of the Steuben County Conference and Visitors Bureau in the Finger Lakes region of New York where he was instrumental in growing tourism revenues for the county year over year for five consecutive years.
With over fifteen years of destination management experience in Virginia, Kevin served as tourism director in the Town of Abingdon in Southwest Virginia, and was the first tourism director for Botetourt County, VA in the Shenandoah Valley. Kevin’s tourism department in Abingdon was recognized by Southeast Tourism Society as the Tourism Office of the Year 2014, receiving their Shining Example Award.
Kevin holds a master’s degree in tourism management from the University of Tennessee, and a bachelor’s degree in travel management from Rochester Institute of Technology.
