Some say media relations is an art form. Others insist it’s a science. Whatever it is, Erin has the formula figured out, having toiled in the trenches of media relations for more than two decades, first at D.C.-area trade associations followed by 14 years at Richmond Region Tourism where she helped to promote the best of the region to travel writers and content creators while landing high-profile placements in The New York Times, Travel + Leisure and Condé Nast Traveler. A native of Roanoke and graduate of UVA where she majored in English, Erin also worked at Richmond-based Golden Word leading the agency’s hospitality accounts. She’s a self-confessed news junkie, partial to outlets that begin with the words “New York” and boasts a secret talent shared with George Costanza – parallel parking.
In early 2024, Chris retired from the industry and moved with his wife to Damascus, VA, to be closer to their son at Virginia Tech. Driven by a desire to contribute to his new hometown, he became Town Manager just two months before Hurricane Helene struck. This unexpected challenge has undoubtedly been a “baptism by fire” (or more specifically by flood), testing his leadership and resilience while showcasing his commitment to the town’s recovery.
