Small Business Development & Tourism Specialist
Town of Leesburg
Allison Wood is the Small Business Development & Tourism Specialist for the Town of Leesburg Economic Development, where she manages tourism promotion and small business initiatives as the town’s sole tourism staff member. She brings a professional background in marketing and the Virginia wine industry, experience that informs her creative approach to tourism development and destination promotion.
For the past several years, Allison has been an active member of Loudoun County’s VA250 Committee, including two years as Chair of the Outreach Subcommittee. In this role, she helped streamline event marketing processes and introduced best practices in communications, equipping committee members with tools to promote activities more effectively across the community.
In addition to her work in tourism and VA250, Allison has played a key role in the development of Leesburg’s Main Street program and now serves as the staff liaison and an Ex-Officio board member. She also serves as an instructor for the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce’s Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!), mentoring middle and high school students as they create and launch their own businesses.
Allison brings a unique perspective to Virginia’s tourism landscape, blending hands-on experience in small-town tourism with a passion for collaboration, storytelling, and community-driven economic development. She lives in Leesburg with her husband, two young sons, and their dog, where much of her free time is spent enjoying family- and community-centered activities.
