Tamera Wilkins Harris doesn’t just talk about tourism—she lives and breathes it! With an unstoppable passion for showcasing the Richmond Region’s vibrant culture, history, and hospitality, she’s spent over 27 years making sure residents and visitors alike see just how much this community has to offer. She firmly believes that tourism is a force for good, driving economic growth, fostering cultural appreciation, and creating opportunities for all.’
After earning her BA from the University of Virginia, Tamera moved to Richmond to pursue a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from the Medical College of Virginia. But it wasn’t long before the world of tourism captured her heart, leading her to a rewarding career at Richmond Region Tourism.
Now serving as Director of Community Relations, Tamera is the driving force behind the I Am Tourism Ambassador program and Workforce Development initiatives. Whether she’s inspiring locals to see their hometown with fresh eyes or helping future tourism leaders find their path, she’s all about fostering connections, growing partnerships, and celebrating the industry’s impact.
A true community advocate, Tamera is on a mission to make sure everyone knows tourism isn’t just about visitors—it’s about jobs, culture, and strengthening communities. When she’s not out championing Richmond, you’ll find her crafting memorable adventures with her daughter Carter, her husband Dalen, and their beloved pets, Rza and Ghost.
