Tourism Gives Back

The VA1 Governor’s Tourism Summit partners with local nonprofit organizations each year, and our partner for the 2025 conference is God’s Storehouse. God’s Storehouse is a nonprofit serving Danville and Pittsylvania County. It gathers surplus food, delivers it to families and individuals who are facing food insecurity, offers programs like an urban farm and backpack distribution, and tries to connect people with additional support in the community. In 2024 alone it distributed over two million pounds of food and drew on over 20,000 volunteer hours to reach people in need.

Mission: God’s Storehouse works throughout the Danville and Pittsylvania County communities to collect food, distribute food resources to those in need, promote nutrition, and connect customers to local resources. Our work is possible thanks to the help of our local faith-based community, businesses, schools, and volunteers.

Vision: God’s Storehouse envisions a community where those in need of nourishment can be fed and nurtured.

How You Can Help: We will be collecting donations for God’s Storehouse throughout the conference, and this year your contributions can go even further. Anyone who donates (either monetarily or via food donations) prior to 5:00 PM on Thursday, November 20 will receive additional entries into the VA1 Raffle that takes place during the Friday morning General Session on November 21. Here are the details:

      • $25 donation = One (1) additional entry to the VA1 Raffle on Friday morning
      • $50 donation = Three (3) additional entries to the VA1 Raffle on Friday morning
      • We will also be collecting canned food items at the VA1 registration table throughout the conference. Every five (5) canned food items donated will earn you an additional entry in the VA1 Raffle on Friday morning; 10 items donated will earn you three (3) additional entries.
