Michael Weatherly

The Weatherly Family (Cierra & Michael with children Sienna & Mylan) have lived in Virginia for almost 20 years, splitting time between Virginia Beach and the mountains in Nelson and now Rockbridge County. Cierra and Michael grew up and attended high school together in northeastern North Carolina and have been together for over 20 years. When COVID turned the world upside down in 2020, they packed up the family and moved to their cabin in Nelson County. This allowed their family to take a step back, enjoy nature, go hiking, play in the creek, fish, relax, focus on their business and children’s learning and overall, just connect.

While on COVID lockdown they began searching for land and adventure. What started out as a simple search for a 5-acre parcel turned into a beautiful farm winery they discovered and named Ecco Adesso Vineyards at Skyline Meadows Farm. You could say it was love at first sight/site and the perfect place to have an agritourism, a place to share with others as they have experienced while traveling abroad that would bring together agriculture and tourism, otherwise known as agritourism in the United States.

And so it began! They hit the ground running and focused on getting the guest retreats in order, clearing the property of overgrowth, soil sampling for future vines, preparing the ground for the new vineyard, pruning the old vineyards and orchards, reestablishing old hiking trails, removing debris from the creeks and springs, making repairs, installing much needed deer fencing, and planting over 5,500 new vines. The Weatherlys have also started a non profit organization called Vet First, which hires Veterans to grow organic produce and give back to the community locally. Currently two Veterans manage the garden and hiking trails with an outlook of hiring more for future garden expansions, installation of a hoop house, bee keeping, chickens, and Veteran Retreat Cabins.
They overall want to give guests the experiences that they fell in love with when in Europe by being able to participate in agricultural activities, stay on the farm, have farm to table food, experience nature by hiking almost 350+ acres of trails, enjoy the farm animals, and get back to nature
