As the Acting Director of Tourism for the Prince William County Office of Tourism, Dan Cook leads a team of tourism professionals in Virginia’s 9th largest tourism economy. Prince William is home to a variety of top visitor attractions including Manassas National Battlefield Park, Potomac Mills, the National Museum of the Marine Corps, Jiffy Lube Live, nearly 5,000 hotel rooms, as well as a collection of 38 square miles of parks, agritourism experiences, and scenic open space.
Previously, Dan led the Tourism Marketing & Communications strategy as well as assisted in the County’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism and Department of Economic Development COVID-19 economic recovery strategy. Dan is a graduate of Leadership Prince William (’18), the U.S. Travel Associations Emerging Leaders Program and is seeking his CDME with Destinations International. He is a past recipient of VRLTA’s Jim Ricketts Award for DMO/CVB Employee of the Year.
With a background in the private sector at some of the largest malls in the U.S., and internships at Walt Disney World, he brings a breadth of knowledge on place and deal making, sponsorship sales, activation and engagement, market research, and grand openings.
Dan, his wife, their family, and their cat Chaplin reside in Gainesville, Virginia.
