As the Acting Director of Tourism for the Prince William County Office of Tourism, Dan Cook leads a team of tourism professionals in Virginia’s 9th largest tourism economy | home to Northern Virginia’s Open Spaces and Friendly Faces. Previously, he led the Tourism Marketing & Communications strategy as well as assist the County’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism and Department of Economic Development with COVID-19 recovery strategies. Dan is a graduate of Leadership Prince William (’18), the U.S. Travel Associations Emerging Leaders Program, and has served on Destinations International Small DMO Task Force. He is a past recipient of VRLTA’s Jim Ricketts Award for DMO/CVB Employee of the Year.
With a background in marketing and advertising in the private sector working on strategies at some of the largest commercial real estate developments on the East Coast, and multiple internships at Walt Disney World, he brings a breadth of knowledge on place and deal making, event and brand activation, and grand openings/ribbon cuttings.
Dan, his wife, their family, and their cat Chaplin reside in Gainesville, Virginia.
