Brian Solis

Brian is a certified urban planner with 25 years of professional experience developing and implementing public and partnership programs, projects and initiatives of City-wide and regional significance. He has spent the last 20 years with the City of Virginia Beach serving as senior city planner, Planning, Design and Development Administrator, Transportation Planning Manager and interim roles as Strategic Growth Areas Director and Parks and Recreation Director.

Some of the major initiatives Brian has held leadership roles in making happen include the Chesapeake Bay Foundation Brock Environmental Center, Camp Grom and Grommet Island Park, the U.S. Field Hockey National Training Center, the Adventure Park at Virginia Aquarium and the Virginia Beach Field House.
One of the more recent initiatives he worked on was the inaugural Something in the Water Festival.

Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Geography, with an emphasis in Urban & Regional of Planning, and a Master of Public Administration, both from Old Dominion University. He is also a graduate of the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service LEAD program.
