2021 Super Session #2: Black Travel | Building Trust, Uniting Community and Growing Visitation

Tourism destinations globally are seeking to expand the sharing of trusted, well curated content, representing the history and current culture of Black, Brown and African American travelers. One cannot ignore the growing economic value of the Black travel market – an estimated $109.4 billion in annual spending according to Black U.S. leisure travelers and MMGY Global. Destination marketing must combat under-representation, without tokenizing, while giving advice, inspiration, and sense of community when traveling. Join our panel of Virginia DMOs, community organizations, and neighboring destinations discussing how best to represent local, black travel experiences to all travelers, while reaching the people and communities whose lived experiences create these powerful travel stories, sites and communities.
