Understanding Consumers and the Sharing Economy

While there has been much coverage of travelers’ moves away from traditional choices in hotels, etc. and towards sharing economy resources such as vacation rentals, car services, and others, there has been less insight into the consumers who use them. Magellan Strategy Group and H2R Market Research launched a research project to explore the differences between travelers who use traditional resources and those who chose to use sharing economy resources, including whether having vacation rentals in a destination decreases the economic impact of travel or do travelers use their money on other activities in the area.
